Gospel artist Sonnie Badu did not mince words following the death of songstress Ebony Reigns, inferring her numerous critics are happy.

Ebony died in a motor crash at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo region during the wee hours of Friday. Two other occupants on board a Jeep with registration number AS 497—16 from Sunyani also died in the head-on collision.

In a tweet to commiserate with family and friends of the ‘Poison’ hitmaker, Badu said:

Badu had been an ardent supporter of the “Haters Anthem” singer, despite a barrage of criticism from a section of Ghanaians over her appearance and music videos.

When a follower reacted to his comment, he responded:

My dear brother in our Akan language there is a saying that goes asem asa .. I feel we were hard on her hence her rebellious attitude.. a great talent is gone…

In a series of tweets, he said:

You just needed a chance in life #EbonyReigns
Pastors preach about JESUS but the don’t practice it ..

Ebony, who would have celebrated her 21st birthday on February 16 was widely tipped to snatch the Artiste of the Year diadem.
