MISS GERALDINE Atta Sappor, who was Miss Tourism Ghana 2016 represented Ghana in the Miss Tourism World 2017 and won as Miss Tourism World Africa at Melaka, Malaysia.
According to Ms Atta Sappor, her ability to win as Miss Tourism World Africa was due to her constant promotion of Ghana’s culture and tourism to her fellow contestants. She said her new role as Miss Tourism World Africa is to serve as an ambassador to promote Africa Culture and tourism using Ghana as the stronghold. She said she will use tools like social media and other media platforms to promote Africa (Ghana) to the rest of the world.
Speaking to the fylladey.com Ms Atta Sappor said “I won as Miss Tourism World Africa because I worked extremely hard, the competition was tight but I was able to sell and promote Ghana to everyone that I met there with our fabrics, beads and culture. I tell people how blessed Ghana is with gold and they all want to visit soon.”
Ms Atta Sappor was part of the top fifteen contestants at the Miss Tourism 2017/2018 World finals which took place on January 27, 2018. She was in competition with more than fifty countries around the world, she said “I was in competition with over 50 beauty queens, it was challenging but I never gave up. Am happy I made it and Ghana won.”
In an interview with the fylladey.com, the father of the Queen, Mr Joe Sappor expressed his excitement, he said “Am really proud of my daughter for putting Ghana on the map, and we appreciate all friends and family who helped her to achieve this success.”
At the night of the final competition, Colombia’s representative, Andrea Katerine Gutierrez Puentes who was Miss Tourism Americas 2017 was crowned Miss Tourism World 2017, while Miss Tourism Peru 2017 Janick Maceta Del Castillo was crowned 1st runner-up, Miss Tourism Serbia 2017, Sara Miletic as 2nd runner-up, 3rd runner-up Lyn Goh, Miss Tourism Malaysia 2017 and 4th runner-up, Toru Amirlin, Miss Tourism Mongolia 2017.
